At the end of the month of March, 2025, the musical mastermind Giuseppe Ottaviani returns to Toronto to play at Forbidden City. For those who don’t know too much about him, Giuseppe hails from Italy and started studying music in his youth. He has released several full albums, played every kind of venue out there, and while most of his releases have been trance-focused Giuseppe does not label himself a trance producer but, instead, a music maker.
My first experience with Giuseppe was when he was booked at The Guvernment with Filo and Peri on July 10th, 2010. This was not long after I realized my electronic music tastes fell mainly in the trance genre. I didn’t know much of either Giuseppe or Filo and Peri, and went there with an open mind to learn new music. I was not disappointed.
Since then, I have made an effort to see Giuseppe anytime he has been booked at a venue I could make it to. I’ve seen him locally and internationally, at major festivals and small intimate venues, and, every single time, without fail, Giuseppe has proven to me that he is exactly what I called him in the first sentence of this article, a musical mastermind.
