The tear-down of the world famous Guvernment nightclub broke party-goers hearts back in 2015. Nothing could replace the memories created inside the legendary venue, but the nightlife must go on, and a new club was birthed. The new Rebel Entertainment Complex is the only mega-club located in Toronto. Its construction was a ten-month long project located on the Polson Pier (where The Sound Academy formally stood) overlooking Lake Ontario with a beautiful view of the Toronto skyline. It is home to Ink Entertainment produced events.
Rebel is a two-story building that has a maximum capacity of 3,700 people and can be split into four rooms: Main Room, City Bar, Noir, and Purple Room. The Montreal based production company Black Mowhawk and their creative talents are responsible for the immersive and interactive state-of-the-art lighting, video, sound, special effects, and other various technology that is incorporated into this nightclub’s multimedia experience. The Main Room has a dramatic 65 foot stage surrounded by expansive LED video walls and a bar on each side runs down the sides of the space. The doors that lead to the outdoor smoking patio is the same area where day drinkers spend their time at Cabana Pool Bar.
Since its grand opening in October 2016, several annual events that used to run during the Guvernment days have been moved to Rebel, including: Glow, Thriller, Solaris, Labour Of Love, Digital Dreams official after parties, and Veld official after parties. In its relatively short history of existence, the venue has already hosted many famous local and international headliners, such as Kaskade, Carl Cox, Gareth Emery, Seven Lions, Markus Schulz, Tchami, Eric Prydz, Above & Beyond, Nora En Pure, Zedd, Aly & Fila, deadmau5, Tiësto, and the list continues to grow!
Rebel offers a Fast Track promotion for their Revolution Saturdays. You can pre-purchase your admission and avoid the lines with express entry and priority access over walk-up guests. Both men and women will save $5 off of the price of regular cover (must arrive before 1am). Every week the ladies have an opportunity to get in for free – simply submit your name to the guestlist and arrive before 11:30pm (please note that this method does not guarantee entry). When you’re finished for the night, Rebel proudly offers complimentary shuttle service from the nightclub to Union Station between the hours of 1am to 3am for all guests!
Additionally, marijuana consumption within the complex is allowed as long as it follows the legal guidelines set out by the Canadian Federal Government; you must be 19 years or older to consume, patrons can carry up to the legal amount and can bring the legal amount inside the venue, but can only smoke it in the designated outdoor smoking areas. Do not drive under the influence of cannabis and please consume responsibly.
