German techno wunderkind Etnik has announced his “Unclassified” EP, set for release via OWSLA / Bitclap on October 20th, 2014. Last year’s “Neon Daze” EP helped to established his unique brand of minimal techno, a sound that he continues to perfect on “Unclassified”. His focus on the bare essentials creates a rare elegance that infamously got him signed to Warner Music after his first DJ gig. “I’m an absolute perfectionist, constantly seeking the optimum,” he explains.
The opening track N7 is an intimate intro to Etnik’s sound, building in intensity throughout. Nighthawk explores deeper, descending into rave sounds of the 90s and beyond. The title track Unclassified features rapper Mykki Blanco for a unifying mashup of hip hop and techno production, and the closing track Take A Shot is a more daze-inducing approach to Etnik, serving as a dreamy outro to the EP.
