New York’s Electronic Music Festival, Electric Zoo (EZOO) has come and gone this past Labour Day weekend. As much as electronic dance music (EDM) lovers are sad to see it over, the best part about the end of any music festival are the post videos! EZOO recently released the 2012 Official Recap video. If you can watch this video without smiling, you have no soul. After watching this video, the urge to want to attend next year will come over you.
Electric Zoo is an annual three-day electronic music festival held in New York City annually over Labor Day Weekend. The festival regularly features over 100 of the world’s biggest and most-promising electronic music talent, including DJs and live acts, while providing multiple genres of dance music across four stages.
Produced and directed by Bobby Bailey and Justin Hamilton, the EZOO 2012 Recap video starts off with Flight Facilities Crave You (Adventure Club Remix) portraying a grey, colourless world. The girl in the video, is drawn to a wall of glistening magical colours, in which she falls into another world… which brings her into EZOO. We are then pulled right into the festival, with people dancing, smiling, wearing vibrant colours, tutus, wigs, and every kind of expression imaginable. The stages and productions are showcased while festival goers are shoulder riding, hands in the air, and getting lost in the music.
The video then speeds up with Martin Solveig The Night Out (Madeon Remix), with confetti explosions, hair whipping, and crowd surfing, then morphs into slow motion to capture the love and unity that is present. Dada Life is then shown blasting champagne into the crowd with the track by Madeon Finale (Dillon Francis Remix) which then clips of CO2 blasting into the crowd are captured, followed by clips of some of the DJs and Producers who were a part of Electric Zoo that weekend. Sander Van Doorn Kangaroo (Original Mix) is then showcased in the video, with EZOO goers raging and loving every moment of it.
The video slows down and brings us back to Flight Facilities Crave You (Adventure Club Remix) which focuses on the light production of EZOO while animals start to appear on the faces of EZOO goers. The girl we see in the beginning of the video is then brought back to reality, which is dull and colourless.
