ALBUMS: Gina Turner & Laidback Luke release a new Nouveau Yorican EP

Since 2010, Gina Turner and Laidback Luke have hit the studio together under the collaboration project known as Nouveau Yorican – a House music tag team with undeniable undertones of Latin flare. Nearly three years after its inception, Nouveau Yorican will be releasing their 6th original production, Diga Me ft. Bear Who, out today on Gina’s newly established TURNIT Records.

Diga Me’ is the first production from Nouveau Yorican since the pair wedded up in fall of 2012, and this time around, Gina and Luke call upon renowned Chicago House b-boy, Bear Who, to lay down vocals. Luke says:

“Bear Who heard of how we liked to have a Latin vibe in our tracks and he brought the real Puerto Rican deal…”

With Gina and Luke’s specific styles in mind, the Diga Me EP features two distinct mixes – each one geared to reflect the two producers’ individual techniques. Gina’s ‘Deep Mix’ takes Diga Me into a techier, more tribal realm, providing for inevitable latenight, dark room play. The ‘Main Mix’ illuminates the big, chunky House that Laidback Luke is loved for – with bouncy vibes and stabs fit for any big room or main stage. It’s this cooperative yet dichotomous sound that truly showcases the collective talent that the Nouveau Yorican project represents.

To coincide with the release, Gina and Luke will be hosting a TURNIT Records event dubbed TURN IT OUT on February 14th at Paris Social Club where they’ll perform as Nouveau Yorican along with friends Curses! (Drop The Lime’s side project) and Teki Latex, who will be putting down a very rare ‘R&B Love Jams Set.’ Tickets and more info for this Valentine’s Day show are available here.
