TRACK REVIEW: Tiesto thanks fans with free download of “iTrance” (feat. Disco Fries) by Derek Yeung

A few months ago, Tiesto had the EDM world buzzing with his Facebook post promising a Trance album should he be voted #1 in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll.  Whether he was serious or not, we’ll never know as he ended up in the 4^th spot in this year’s poll. Tiesto didn’t need any consolation, however, as he was awarded DJ Mag’s very first Top 100 DJs Legend award. In celebration of the honour, Tiesto’s loyal Trance fans received a very special treat in the form of a brand new track titled iTrance, available now for free download on his SoundCloud. 

“I am humbled and so honoured to receive the inaugural DJ Mag Top 100 Djs Legend award.  I am extremely grateful for all my fans and their continued support over the years.  As a thank you, I want to share a brand new track called iTrance with you.”

Collaborating alongside Disco Fries, this track shows us that the Dutchman has channelled his Trance roots for the first time in a while.  The tune quietly ushers in a subtle and smooth melody which slowly speeds up – layered to make way for its arousing minor break.  This track is far from what he has produced over the last few years and has reminded fans of his old progressive trance that we all used to (and still do) love so much.

Although it may not be a full Trance album that we received this weekend, it is certainly refreshing to see Tiesto come back to his original form. Is this is a small taste of what is to come for Trance fans around the world? I can’t wait to find out.
