The night started off with local djs D3FF & AKTEC warming up the crowd. These guys have played at Identity Festival, Toronto Frosh Festival and have opened up for several big name djs, such as Deorro at The Hoxton. They played a unique opening set which ranged from electro house to tech house and it was a great way to start the night.
Violince was up next and if you’ve never seen this guy then I highly recommend that you do. It’s always interesting to witness electronic music being performed on real instruments and his violin is a beautiful accompaniment to his music.
Makj had some great stage presence, engaging the crowd with bangers that had them jumping up and down. Everyone in the crowd was singing along to the popular tracks, contributing to the already energetic atmosphere . Before I knew it, it was time for Bassjackers.
I have only seen Bassjackers once before and I knew that their set would steal the show. Although only one member of Bassjackers was there, it didn’t take away from the performance. I hadn’t heard many of the songs they played before but I was still dancing like crazy. Bassjackers did a good job of pumping up the crowd and everyone was getting ready to lose it for Bingo Players.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to catch Bingo Players as I had to leave early, but I heard that they stole the show, especially with their stage set up; nothing like that has ever been brought to Barrie before, so it surely raised the bar for Barrie’s future event production.
The next event for Barrie is R3HAB at Sound Empire on Thursday, November 14th. Tickets and more information will be released in a few days, so if you have yet to check out this venue, R3HAB should be a good opportunity to do so.
