EVENT PREVIEW: The Union Crew at Footwork 22-12-13 by Nusrat Kamal

The homegrown tech monsters – Carlo Lio, Nathan Barato & The Junkies, return to familiar territory on Sunday December 22nd, 2013. The show was originally scheduled for Saturday, 21st December 2013 at the Circus Warehouse, but due to unavoidable circumstances, it has been moved to the following day at the new home of Footwork (794 Bathurst). The Union Crew will be playing back 2 back 2 back all night! The party is scheduled to start at 8pm, and even though it is on a Sunday night.. it will continue ’til late. 9 hours to be exact, as confirmed by the organizers. This is definitely going to be an event worth checking out for all the tech-heads and club goers alike. To get you even more pumped about it, here is a little info about the Union crew:

Carlo Lio – A Toronto native, Carlo is a brilliant DJ, producer and businessman. His continued efforts with Rawthentic Music have quickly been paying off making RAW one of Canada’s top underground record labels at the moment. Carlo has been pounding out numerous quality hits which have received plenty International support. His unique signature style that’s driven by a relentless, sexy, hypnotic, tech-y groove is sure to leave you mesmerized.. With his flawless and imaginative mixing and his mind-blowing programming, Carlo will satisfy your mind, body and soul and leave you salivating for more.

Nathan Barato – Few DJ’s can own more than one genre, but this is one skill that sets Nathan Barato apart from many artists. Nathan’s versatility allows him to break boundaries and win over fans of many different sounds. For the past 15 years, Nathan has been a favorite in the Toronto scene. In the early years, Nathan’s innate ability to win the crowd over with his groove scored him gigs at legendary Toronto nightclubs . Musically, Nathan’s range dabbles in many genre’s within the 4/4 spectrum going back to his influence of 90’s garage, and ranging to many spans of current club music. Throughout his career, Nathan has played in cities throughout North America and Europe, but considers Toronto his home base.

The Junkies – The Junkies’ style has continued to evolve over the years under the influence of various genres of electronic music, ranging from deep soulful house to techno and everything in between. Drawing from these has resulted in a sound of their own both in the studio and in their DJ sets. It’s this sound that has made them a consistently present force in the Toronto club scene for over 10 years. The Junkies has played alongside some of the world’s most respected artists on a regular basis including the likes of Dubfire, Marco Carola, Paco Osuna and Loco Dice just to name a few. Production and remix work have been fundamental in pushing them forward both as artists and DJ’s. The duo never seems to stop releasing and remixing tracks, which have gained massive support worldwide. The Junkies are a talent definitely worth checking out.
