Joseph Capriati at RYZE Toronto was on another level. Joseph has been on a tour, gracing clubs across North America for his new album “Self Portrait” and Toronto was more than happy to welcome this Italian techno master to RYZE.

Before Joseph came on Anthony D’Amico was on the decks and must be given an honorable mention. This isn’t the first time I have watched him get a crowd hyped up before an artist arrives. He has a bouncy dark feel to him and is always creating a vibe that sets the precedent for the night.

It was also Dave Balance’s birthday and the venue was outfitted in hundreds of mini Italian flags. There was even an antipasto tray in Dave’s VIP booth with everything from provolone and panini to prosciutto and salami, in true Italian fashion.

With a slow and deep opening to his set, Capriati quickly transitioned to some dark, deep speaker banging techno. Joseph’s style is so versatile, he mixes like a dream. His passion shines through him when he is performing. His debut album is nothing short of this. His track Self Portrait is a deep and soulful song that stands completely unique to any of his other work. His song Fretello is a sensual track, dropping in angelic-like sounds of piano keys. He was dropping tracks by Adam Beyer, Nicole Moudaber and Alan Fitzpatrick. It’s no wonder this man has been in such high demand throughout 2013. This event was definitely a party in true Drumcode fashion. If you should know anything about Drumcode, it’s that the uniqueness and quality of an artist’s work is the most imperative part of being part of the Drumcode family. Joseph Capriati does just that.
