ALBUMS: Medina Announces Sophomore U.S. Full-Length Album “Forever” 10/12/13 on Ultra Music

 

 

Following her collaboration with Wolfgang Gartner on the single Overdose (April 2013), Denmark’s glam-pop queen Medina just officially released her sophomore U.S. album release, Forever, out on Ultra Music this past December 10th.

Medina’s Forever is packed with gleaming electro-pop anthems, including the forthcoming single, synth-pop heartbreaker Fool, which Medina explains is “about having people in your life you just need to get rid of because they’re just no good. The song’s about feeling sorry for those who refuse to change for the better.” Another standout single is Junkie, a slick progressive house track that’s guaranteed to seep into your veins and make your body move. Ultra recently premiered the music video for the latter – check out the Nordic songstress’ grim dance pop visuals.

Moonlighting as a Singer/Songwriter/Model/Actress, and all-around “It Girl”, Medina has experienced massive worldwide success with her US debut album Welcome To Medina, released in September 2011 which spawned the international hit single You & I. The single sold more than 1 million copies worldwide, and has over 20 million views on YouTube, while in the UK, the single ranked as A-list at BBC Radio 1 and entered the US Billboard Chart’s Hot Dance Airplay at #6. The follow up single Addiction topped the Billboard Hot Dance Chart at #1.

While sitting on the top of the charts is all very exciting to Medina, there’s a sheer honesty with her that resonates beyond the clubs on a much larger level. “I can’t write about champagne bottles and dancing on tables. That’s just not me. I have a lot of art, and the way I write is quite sensitive.” affirms Medina. Her honesty and realness is something her fans truly admire and respect, which is perhaps why has been the #1 MOST Googled Artist in Denmark 3 years in a row, and has received more radio airplay this year in her native Denmark than any other artist, all things she hopes will continue to translate with her US fans. Considering that the songstress cites Drake, Solange and Rihanna as three of her favorite artists of 2013, she can’t be too far off.

While she was waiting the U.S. release of Forever, Medina didn’t sit around drumming her fingernails – instead she just wrapped an acoustic tour of Europe and is now touring Germany, in addition to prepping her next upcoming international studio album. She just unleashed her own Danish makeup line, and Medina reveals that her next project is “a clothing line for men…a mix of Malene Birger and Balmain”.
