Assembling the leading lights in underground dance music, Apex will cross North America for its debut ten-date tour in April and May.
Reverting to the founding ethos of dance music in America, Apex will showcase artists in a variety of spaces including lofts, warehouses, theaters and club venues. In each city Apex will work with promoters with a proven history and dedication to underground dance music. Apex is a step away from the bombastic bottle service underpinning much of the current EDM explosion. Apex is a tour built around artists who share a focus on musicality and craft, many of whom had built a career long-before EDM even existed.
Apex’s debut tour will feature Resident Advisor’s #1 DJ of 2013 Dixon, house favorite and recent Mixmag cover star Maceo Plex, the exploding Italians Tale of Us, electronic pioneer James Holden, the sultry and acclaimed Maya Jane Coles, dirtybird’s Justin Martin and Kill Frenzy, techno doyenne Magda and British beat star Joy Orbison alongside the venerated talents Thugfucker, Michael Mayer, DJ Tennis, Catz n Dogz, Danny Daze, Blond:ish and Harvard Bass.
In each city Apex will pair two or three artists allowing them to play for extended periods. Far from rigid reduced set slots, Apex gives the artists the flexibility and freedom to perform their sets as they wish, with a natural ebb and flow. Each night will be a true journey, helmed by the best creative minds in underground dance music.
Apex is supported by Sapporo and Red Bull. The tour is produced by Embrace Presents and Liaison artists, with event production and design handled by Strangeloop. The tour partners chatted more about Apex with Billboard here:
The Apex Tour hits The Hoxton in Toronto on April 24th, 2014.
