Galantis-Galantis-E.P.-2014-1200x1200
On April 1st, 2014, house production duo Galantis released their self-titled EP. This Swedish powerhouse team (comprised of Style of Eye’s Linus Eklow and indie-pop band Miike Snow’s Christian Karlsson) sounds like you would think: Miike Snow gone full-electronic. And it sounds great.

Armed with their iconic collection of seafoxes (various cats combined with jellyfish), Galantis produced 6 tracks on their EP, full of beautiful piano riffs, catchy vocal melodies, and euphoric house synths. Listen to the full EP, and I guarantee you will be singing along to all their songs by the end.

The vocals are without a doubt what give each track its flair. The melodies are just so well thought out and addictive, and they are always distorted or pitch shifted in such a way that makes them memorable: this is all part of the unique sound of Galantis. The lyrics themselves are inspiring, too. With track titles like Smile and Friend (Hard Times), all the tracks are guaranteed to lift your spirit.

This production duo already has huge support from the likes of Kaskade, who produced his own edit of their track Smile. Out now on Big Beat Records, you can buy the self-titled EP from Galantis on Beatport below. And if you like what you hear, I highly recommend checking out Style of Eye and Miike Snow.

Galantis is scheduled to play at Coachella this year, followed by spring tour dates in Montreal, New York City, and more (no Toronto announcements, yet).
