After weeks of anticipation after tickets went on sale, it’s safe to say the mainstage will be popping. With huge recent announcements to round off the mainstage, Veld just has to release the Bacardi Tent talent. The Bacardi Tent is the place to be on Saturday for any bassheads and trance addicts will get their fill on Sunday. Tons of rumours are going around as to who is playing, but nothing will be confirmed until INK makes their announcements later on this summer. If the two additions (Adventure Club and Armin van Buuren) to the mainstage line up are any indication, the Bacardi tent will blow the socks off many!
Who Amrit is most excited to see (in no particular order):
1. NERO
The first song I ever heard by NERO was their remix of Blinded by the Lights by The Streets. Since then I have fallen in love with every track they have produced. NERO is comprised of Daniel Stephens and Joey Ray, and 2008 saw vocalist Alana Watson added to group. Signed to Chase & Status’ label MTA Records, NERO has been heavy hitters such as Promises, was also remixed by Skrillex and won a Grammy in 2013 for Best Remixed Recording. Their album “Welcome to Reality” hit number 1 in the UK Albums charts and gained international notoriety. It’s been a while since NERO has released a new single but Satisfy has done just that for fans of the trio. I, for one, cannot wait to hear what will come from the minds of NERO next and I cannot wait to see them on the mainstage.
Montreal’s own Christian Srigley and Leighton James are back for another round at the Veld main stage. Influenced by Flux Pavilion, Greeley Estates and Skrillex, Adventure Club’s sound is a combination of bass and grime with a little bit of that Canadian charm.
Touring the past few months with Dada Life on the Dada Land Tour, their following has grown and made them a household name in the electronic music industry. Their recent single Gold featuring Yuna has risen and the charts and their track Rise and Fall with Krewella has added to their increasing following. They can only go up from here and I am really excited to see what they have in store for us at Veld.
The legendary Armin van Buuren is headlining day 2 of Veld this summer. I first saw Armin at ASOT 450 in Toronto and have been in love with him since then. This Dutch DJ/Producer has made a name for himself through his A State of Trance radio-show-turned-podcast which has become one of the leading podcasts worldwide. Going into his 19th year in the industry, this man will leave every trance fan breathless as he takes the stage at Veld. With tracks like In and Out of Love, J’ai Envie de Toi, Burned with Desire, and This is What It Feels Like (a track with Canada’s own Trevor Guthrie) have all been massive hits. This is one artist no true trance lover should miss. I would buy a Veld ticket just for this man alone.

1. NERO
I was first introduced to NERO in 2010 after hearing their remix of Blinded by the Lights. I jumped at the opportunity to see Daniel Stephens and Joey Ray separately at Arcade Friday (RIP) at Mod Club in 2010 and at the Phoenix Concert Theatre when both Nero and Skrillex came to town in 2011. Both sets we phenomenal and it would be amazing if all three members would make an appearance for their set day 1.
2010 was a year of many firsts. The first time I visited the Guvernment and the first time I saw a trance act live. Both of the events happened at the same time when W&W, Ashley Wallbridge and John O’Callaghan played Contact 2010. From that moment on I become a fan, listening to their entire discography and waiting impatiently for their next single. The duo is made up of Willem van Hanegem and Ward van der Harst.
We have all heard Animals and no matter your opinion of the song Martin Garrix is a talented producer and DJ. Based on feedback from his performances at Ultra and EDC New York and searching through his discography, Garrix shows he is more than a 17 year-old with one song that has been played around the world. I’m really looking forward to see what Garrix has to offer come August 3rd, 2014.
For those who haven’t bought their tickets yet, don’t wait on the final artists announcements! More than 25,000 attendees already have their tickets! safe and sound and are eagerly counting down! T-minus 67 days!
