The last time I was at Muzik Nightclub was for a friend’s birthday two years ago. Not much has changed since then, minus the different layout for Definitive. For those who haven’t been to Muzik before, as soon as you walk into the venue you see a backdrop where you can have your photo taken with the beautiful servers. The large coat check is to the right. To enter the expansive dance floor walk past the backdrop, through the double doors. The first thing you see are a few boots, flanked by privacy curtains and ferns. Past them you can see the neon glow of the dance floor. As soon as you step onto it, to your right are the washrooms and the exit to the patio. To the left of the washrooms is a bar and as you continue to pan left you see more booths, another bar and the stage at the centre of the room. This is where the DJs would grace us with their beats.

I arrived at Muzik just past midnight to a pretty packed venue. Toronto duo Pairanoid was on the decks and I caught the tail end of Wongo Chopped up remix of Beyoncé’s Partition. Pairanoid captivated the crowd with an exciting set that pumped up the crowd for the headliner. Their set was filled with non stop tracks which included tons of bass. No one stopped dancing the entire time. At this point the dance floor swelled with the amount of dancing bodies, everyone trying to carve their space on the dance floor and find a good vantage point for the man of the night.

Catch their entire set list below.

Next was the man of the hour, Henrix who started off with a bang. He played non-stop and continued to get the crowd moving throughout his set. He played his smash hit The Underground featuring Celeda, which is out on Size Records. Henrix continued to play hit after hit including Shake Your Money Maker and Panty Dropper, which only made the crowd want more. It was one of those nights you could only dream about, good music, good atmosphere and vibe that lasted well into the night. Henrix literally made me enjoy my night and it was one of those parties if you did not attend, you had no idea what you’ve missed. With that hip hop infused flair, Henrix definitely delivered, here’s hoping he comes back to Toronto and does another round.
