Factory Fridays at Uniun Nightclub presents Loco Dice and Robert Dietz, with Manzone and Strong on May 23rd, 2014. It’s been a while since Uniun has brought in techno talent, so this event is very much appreciated by techno lovers, like myself.
Loco Dice is someone who can piece together intangible moods with a direct approach. Via his DJ sets or his productions on labels like M_nus, Cadenza, Ovum, Cocoon or his own Desolat, he merges perspectives in his delicate sense for sounds and reflective atmospheres, underpinned with solid, physical grooves inspired by the hip hop that was his early sonic stomping ground in the mid- to late ‘90s. Loco Dice started his career as Hip-Hop DJ and rapper, playing support slots to performers like Usher, Ice Cube, Jamiroquai, Snopp Dogg and R. Kelly.
His DJ sets, whether at Germany’s biggest rave Timewarp, Cocoon in Ibiza, or at a beach party in South America, are spontaneous orchestrations fueled by the nuances of a night/venue/crowd. He began a fruitful studio partnership with Martin Buttrich in 2002 leading to tracks like Phatt Dope Shit, Menina Brasiliera, and Seeing Through Shadows, and these productions are meticulously planned by Dice.
Robert Dietz’s rise has been apocalyptic and relentless, quickly transforming him into one of the most in demand names in electronic music. Releasing quality records on stellar imprints such as Cecille, Deep Vibes, Cadenza, Running Back and Saved Records and having developed his skill set as part of the Cadenza team. Robert has now moved onto pastures new where he continues to craft a trademark house sound that captures the celebratory spirit of old fashioned club music fused with a sleek, 21st century aesthetic. His production skills focus on the same meeting place between technical proficiency and pure excitement. Over the past few years Dietz has built up an impressive CV including work with the likes of Luciano, Nic Fanciulli, Loco Dice, Davide Squillace and fellow Frankfurt star Reboot.
Dietz’s cut his clubbing teeth on the Frankfurt scene dominated by the likes of Sven Vath, Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano, but the flourishing artist leaps all musical boundaries. His only guiding principle can be summed up in words of Chuck Roberts: “House is a feeling!”
