Where: The Hoxton, 69 Bathurst Street, Toronto, Ontario
I hope you’re ready, because Embrace Presents Dr. Ozi are playing their first show at Toronto’s The Hoxton and opening for Electro Funk artist Kill Paris, alongside talented locals DJ Hydee and Decibel. It has been less than a week since Dr. Ozi’s show at The Phoenix Concert Theatre, where I had the pleasure of interviewing my friends Christian and Nix of Dr. Ozi, and they revealed to me their long-time wish to play at the Hoxton. Christian had said, “One day we will play at The Hoxton and it will be the best show of all time!” This dream for these Toronto locals is finally coming true, and I personally could not be any more excited for them to rip up one of our city’s best sound systems with some fresh Dubstep and Drum & Bass. Check out my full exclusive EDM TOR interview here and the event review from last week over here.
Check out their latest collab with Twine, which has created quite a buzz lately in the Dubstep scene.
But wait, it gets better; KILL PARIS. Only a month ago with the release of his “Foreplay EP“, we can only expect a lot of funky and nostalgic tracks coming our way, all thanks to OWSLA / Electric Records. Kill Paris has collaborated with, and been remixed by, so many credible artists who compliment each other exceptionally well, like Griz, K Theory, Candyland, Robert DeLong and Grammatik.
His “To a New Earth EP“, released February 2013, showcased all of these artists and each remix was like an entirely new track. It’s one of my favourite EP’s of all time and I still play it regularly, even though it is well over a year old.
Toronto’s own DJ Hydee will also be playing some wicked tracks too on that night, but you can catch him before that this June 28th at Bud Light Digital Dreams Festival 2014 @ the House of Boom stage from 4 – 5 p.m. right after Rick Toxic. Ontario Place will be taken over for the entire Canada Day weekend with an insane line-up of artists including Justice, Tiesto, Eric Prydz, Carnage, Nervo and SO MUCH MORE! I’ve seen Hydee play twice at The Hoxton already, and both times he has killed it. Hydee is also a proud representative of the Toronto Bass Community, a Facebook group where all the Bassheads of Toronto have gathered to share their love of bass. Despite how hardcore most of the fans are in the group, I’ve come to know them as a loving Bass Family who support each other and have become a new hope for the Toronto EDM scene.
Don’t miss Hydee on Z103.5’s Drive @ 5 Street Mix for his SUMMER TIME LIQUID DNB MIX coming up in the next couple of weeks, keep an eye for more info!
Don’t procrastinate!! Get your tickets right here before the price goes up, or even worse, the event sells out!
This is a 19+ event.
