Those hoping to make the most of their short summer days by spending it on a beach can do so while basking in the rays of sunshine and amazing electronic dance music. Corona SunSets is a brand spanking new festival that will take place on beaches around the world, and it will be on Hanlan’s Point beach on Toronto Island on Saturday August 16th. Other venues include Playa Del Carmen, Acapulco, the UK and Ibiza, so I feel proud that our city made this list! In collaboration with Corona and Beatport, this beach music festival will be launched by none other than SFX Entertainment. SFX Entertainment is behind such epic festivals as Tomorrowland, Sensation and Mysteryland. I am looking at Corona SunSets as the festival to make up for me NOT being a Tomorroworld this time around.

The acts at Toronto’s Corona SunSets will feature Moby, Thivery Corporation, Wolf + Lamb, Cyril Hahn, No Regular Play, Thomas Jack, Jeff Button and Lee Foss & Anabel Englund. There will be two main stages, one named the Griffin stage and the other the Crown stage. To get a feel for the music and the beachy vibe of the artists that are playing, visit the official Corona SunSet’s Facebook page for samples of the music.

According to the official press release; the theme of the music being played with be the “Sound of the Beach” which should be a combination of Balearic beat and deep house. I am excited for the vibe of how this music will be played outside with some great vibes.

To add more to the positive vibes, Corona SunSets has partnered with FEE/Blue Flag International to organize beach cleanups around the world in an effort to save our beaches! Not that you needed another reason to attend an EDM festival on a beautiful beach. Finally, there is a DJ competition that will feature three dance-music industry vets: Annie Mac, Claude VonStroke and Cajmere (aka Green Velvet). It’s a little late to enter the competition, but you can check out the talent here.

To really get excited about the upcoming festival, you can see the teaser clip below:

The event is 19+ and will run from 1 p.m. – 11 p.m.; the tickets include the ferry ride out to the island and I would highly recommend that you make sure that you are there FOR the sunset. The beauty of this event is that it is outdoors and the vibe is sure to be positive, uplifting and one last hurrah to those beaches. Be sure to be a part of music festival history at this event, see you on the beach!
