Embrace, Coda and Platform bring us the first of its kind, Dirtybird BBQ with Claude VonStroke, Justin Martin, J. Phlip, Christian Martin, Ardalan, Talal & Zoi and more special guests to be announced! On top of the sick lineup, it’s also a free BBQ while supplies last! If you’re a fan of House and Tech, you do NOT want to miss out!

Toronto duo Talal & Zoi played at Cherry Beach earlier this summer, and their set had all the chill and dark house beats. A lot of their tracks are Deep House and Deep Tech, so get ready for those industrial feels and progressive builds. It’s the perfect music for an outdoor event, and what better way to start is off with some locals who know what’s good.

We can expect Ardalan, another Dirtybird artist, to play lots of House, Bassfunk and Techno. His notable track LEZGO was charted by Dog Blood (Skrillex & Boyz Noise) and he’s gained support from Claude Von Stroke himself, Maya Jane Coles, A-Trak, and more. Listening to his mixes already gives me the same vibes I got from the artists at the last Electric Island, and I can tell you those are nothing but good vibes. His remixes are awesome but his original tracks are even better. I can’t wait to see what set he’ll lay down for us in Toronto.

Co-founder of Dirtybird BBQ, Christian Martin will be spinning lots of variations of Tech House. He was on this past year’s Shambhala Music Festival lineup, and we’re lucky to have him in Toronto, as it’s his ONLY Toronto tour date planned for 2014. His track Waiting is crazy good, as he samples Christina Aguilera‘s voice from Genie in a Bottle and uses the line “Waiting for someone to release me… ohh” and turns it into a deep tech house track that sounds orgasmic and magical. I can’t wait to hear what other original tracks he’ll drop.

J. Phlip knows how to throw a bumpin set. I just saw her in June at Electric Forest Festival in Michigan at the Bass stage and it was just too good! Her house beats are infectious and you won’t be able to stop moving even if you wanted to. I remember getting a full workout from  her steady beats and builds that forced the crowd to bond for their mutual love of house music. Her track Say My Name has made its way through clubs across the world. She spent 3 years in Berlin perfecting her stuff, so don’t expect any type of house music you hear on the radio; THIS IS THE REAL STUFF.

Justin Martin has been in the game for over a decade, with the support of Pete Tong and Derrick Carter. With Claude Von Stroke as his mentor, Martin has been involved with the development of Dirtybird Records, appearing on the first 4 releases. Now he has many accomplishments under his belt, such as a podcast on Pete Tong’s Essential Mix, landing the cover of DJ Magazine, and scoring gigs at some of the hottest venues in Berlin, London and Ibiza. He also has collaborations with his brother Christian, under the name The Martin Brothers. That’s a lot of talent under one record label, let alone one family.

I’m always trying to find music for my DJ sets that rattles sound systems, but still has enough melody and interesting texture to expand your mind even if you’re sitting at home on a snowy or rainy day. – Justin Martin

And the legendary Claude Von Stroke himself is headlining his own DirtyBird BBQ of course. His iconic track Who’s Afraid of Detroit? put him on the map in 2006 and he’s still working as hard as ever to keep himself at the top of the game. He’s played on Holy Ship!, EDC Las Vegas, Lightning in a Bottle Festival, and has Tomorrowworld scheduled for the end of September and Voodoo Festival on November 1st. Those are quite the accomplishments! He put together a DirtyBird Compilation on SoundCloud to hype up the BBQ, featuring all his favourite tracks from all the Dirtybird artists! It serves as a small glimpse into the record label and the event.
