Austrian rising stars Klangkarussell are heading back to North America in September for a string of dates in support of their “Falls Like Rain” EP, and they’re hitting up Toronto in a few short weeks!
This EP is just a tease for the new album which is expected to release later 2014 in the USA on Casablanca Records and has already put a dent in the iTunes Charts landing at #1 album in six different countries including Austria, Hungary, Germany and Switzerland.
If you’ve heard their track Netzwerk (Falls like Rain) then you already know what a night at The Hoxton is going to get yourself into. The synths sound a lot like Canadian DJ Morgan Page, especially with the progressions, but then Klangkarussel takes it one step further and adds what sounds like banjos or ukuleles on top and gives it that homie-folky feeling before bringing back in the progressive synths and gentle eerie tones as the icing on the cake. Other tracks are more jazz-house with saxaphones, xylophones, piano and flutes, which can be heard on their other popular single Sonnentanz. Their music is layered really nicely and it intrigues me as to what they will do with this style of house music live.
Klangkarussell’s four-track Falls Like Rain EP ranked in the Top 5 in ten countries and Top 20 in fourteen countries. The EP highlights the duo’s distinctively melodic sound and features , as well as the vocal version of Sonnentanz from “Sun Don’t Shine” featuring British soul singer Will Heard.
