Tracks like Fresh Static Snow and Years of War have a Justice sound attached to them, immediately gaining the likes of those fans and more. And the singles Sad Machine, Sea of Voices and Lionhearted all seem to have a special place in everyone’s hearts for the progression and melodic tunes.
So why go to the show? Other than the fact that this album showcases Porter Robinson’s best set of production skills yet, the show itself will be on a whole other level. For the countdown of the album’s release, Porter Robinson has used all his social media accounts as a tool to promote the album’s concept art, which is extraordinary on its own. There are 29 instalments of art for the album, and each one is very modern and helps expand the theme using figures, landscapes, bright colours and shapes to depict his own world inside his head. He mentioned in his interview with Thump that he wants to get into animation, and then leaked a teaser video on his Facebook for the European tour which shows his artworks as moving cartoons. In that same interview with Thump, Porter Robinson talks about his early influences of Japanese culture through Dance Dance Revolution which sparked his love for electronic music as well.
“The stuff that you love as an adolescent stays with you for life. So the nostalgia that I have for that era is just so immense. In Worlds, I think I employed a lot of musical tropes that come from original soundtracks from anime… I think those are forever in my little bank of stuff that I find emotional.”
If you saw Porter Robinson the last time he came to Kool Haus with Seven Lions, be prepared for something completely different this time. Don’t expect any of his old stuff. This won’t be so much of a show as it will be an experience!
