Pig&Dan are a production duo specializing mostly in House & Techno. From Palma de Mallorca, Spain & London, UK respectively, they are 11 years into a partnership that has been making waves in the scene and steadily gaining influence with listeners across the globe.  Together they have played tons of venues the world over and had a ton of releases including remixes and singles, including their freshest release “Synergy”.  They boast 5 released studio albums.

Their 1st song on this release is called Sandstorm and it is the EP’s namesake. The song itself gives off an air of mystery with its unique intro and transports you to a realm where sounds are visible and make the most beautiful distraction. This particular Sandstorm is House done right: four on the floor paired up with a bassline that drives the song all the way home. The melody is what really creates the sandstorm vibe, it’s hypnotizing and keeps you trapped within the realm of the song and loving every second of it. This is the kind of tune you can play anywhere at anytime of day and still get into that funky g-steppin’ vibe.

Next up is a song aptly named Power. The power in this track is demonstrated with its bassline & vocal chops sawing you back an forth across the dancefloor while the melody of distorted chord stabs does double duty in keeping the track fresh and helping to keep helping dancers time in this elegant yet forceful piece. This is definitely a song I would open with if I was to be making a Techno mix because it makes a statement and gets me ready for a night out whenever it comes on.

Last but not least in this release is a tune called There’s No Turning Back. Once you start playing this song there is no turning back. The beat gets you fully involved from the get go and from that moment on it’s a wrap. A distorted voice chimes in to tell you again that “There’s No Turning Back” and then this percolator synth I recognize from the program Reason kicks in and begins to take the track in a mind expanding, meditative direction. As soon as the percussion adds to the build & the listener is swept off their feet on a cloud of pure Techno genius Pig&Dan style. Honestly a beautiful track for anyone that loves their tunes on the abstract side.

Overall, this EP was a good collection of songs that any Tech & Deep House die-hard can appreciate and groove to. I also recommend this EP to any new fans of EDM looking to expand their tastes into other areas but don’t exactly know where to start. I’m glad to see that all of these songs made the cut for the album “Synergy” released on ELEVATE Records, which is owned by Pig&Dan. The “Synergy” album and all of Pig&Dan’s other releases are available on SoundCloud, Beatport, and in iTunes Store.
