On December 20, 2014, hometown heroes, Zeds Dead will be back in town to do their annual end of the year show at Kool Haus. This will be one of the last events at Kool Haus before the new year and before the legendary establishment closes in January. Get ready for a bang cause Zeds Dead knows how to throw a show. In light of their recent release “Somewhere Else“, the EP will be the focus of the show. We have the pleasure of dancing the night away to tracks full of bass and dubstep, new material, collaborations flawless mixing on the Kool Haus sound system. With lots of room to dance the night away 5 days before Christmas. What more could you ask for?
Zeds Dead consists of the duo Hooks (Zach) and DC (Dylan). Their name comes from the 1994 Quentin Tarantino film “Pulp Fiction”. Having been producing music in the Toronto Hip-hop then Dubstep scenes since 2004, they launched into superstardom from their Bassmentality days, starting in the basement of 751 Bar and Lounge. Many of the collaborations with Toronto rapper Omar Linx, have become staples on my home playlists. Tracks such as You and I and Take A Chance have become favourites after seeing their Altered States Tour last year at Sound Academy. Signed to Mad Decent, these boys have just begun their worldwide acclaim.
Most recently, playing several dates as part of the Mad Decent Block Party as well as playing Ibiza, Cannes, Afghanistan and festivals such as Boonstock, Lollapalooza, Panorama, Escapade, Electric Forest as well as many others, Zeds Dead have only scratched the surface. Their most recent EP has garnered critical acclaim from people in the industry, as well as critics. Knowing what I saw last year at their show, I already cleared my schedule for the month of December until the date was announced. December 20th folks, you do not want to miss this show. Knowing that this will be the last time Zeds Dead plays this historic establishment is reason enough to grab your tickets early and watch the magic unfold. I can hardly wait and I will see you folks there with my dancing shoes.
