Clockwork has followed up his smash hit Champions with Signalsa Big Room, Electro-House song, released on Dim Mak Records, featuring the beautifully soft vocals of Taylr Renee. Big room house has often been criticized for its lack of ingenuity and creativity, however, Signals does not follow the big room template, which is a good thing, despite how successful it is.

The song opens with a characteristic big room bass line and builds slowly only to make way for Taylr Renee’s voice and a soft, melodic piano melody. Despite the length of the first and second verse, I would have hoped to hear Taylr’s voice more often in the song, especially during the chorus. Signals takes a break from the massive drops synonymous with big room house and reminds me of festival anthems of yesteryear; names such as Alesso, Dirty South, Avicii back in the day, and Swedish House Mafia come to mind when I’m listening through this song.

One of the main reasons I like this song is because there is a bit more complexity to it than traditional big room house tracks. There’s a definitive melody, bass line, kick, and a couple of other sounds that introduce themselves periodically throughout the track.
