When I hear about artists coming to Toronto that I haven’t been able to see LIVE before, I get really excited. I love nothing more than the experience I will get from an artist I’m seeing for the very first time. This couldn’t be more true for the feels I have about the upcoming Progressive Monkey event with Talamasca alongside our talented local DJs Audi Étoffe, MagicMushroom, and Bits & Bytes.
Talamasca (FRA) has played live at many festivals wordwide, and is considered one of the leaders of the international trance scene. He had a hand in the creation of 3D Vision, one of the leading psy-trance labels, and started his own label called Mind Control Records, but seems to have found a home with Belgian label Dacru Records. We get to enjoy a special two-hour set with him in an intimate setting at Li’ly Lounge!
As for the supporting talent, we have Bits & Bytes which made up of DJ Ian D from Canada, and N_Pulse and Cosmous who were both born in Brazil. They play hard tech house, techno and minimal. MagicMushroom (Dark Records) was born in Sao Miguel in Ponta Delgada, Azores and lives now in Canada. He started listening to psy-trance as a teenager and began to learn to mix at the age of 16. Audi has over 8 years mixing experience and is one of the most versatile DJs in the scene today, with an ability to mix multiple genres ranging from Deep Acid to Heavy Psychedelic and everything in between.
Did I mention the venue is going to be psychadelic-ed right out by the Space Tribe team? Look at this photo of the type of work they do… just WOW! It’s like candy for your eyes, you have to see this in person sometime.
This event is also Prog Monkey’s 4th Anniversary, so it’s not only going to be a night of amazing psy-trance, but celebratory experiences as well. Come dance, celebrate, and be merry with #TeamEDMTOR and Prog Monkey on Saturday, January 17th, 2015 over at Li’ly Lounge at 656 College Street anytime after 10PM. This event is 19+, much to the dismay of any younger fans who were hoping to come.
