EVENT PREVIEW: Prog Monkey presents Protonica alongside Sara Dopstar, Lumen, and more 21-02-15

After hosting the likes of Ticon, Vibrasphere, Talamasca and many more, the Progressive Monkey team has decided to raise the bar yet again! This time we have the pleasure of experiencing one of the shining diamonds of the infamous IONO Records, right here in Toronto.

Protonica++Photo+by+Daniel+PascProtonica is made up of Piet Kaempfer and Ralf Dietze from Berlin, Germany. With Piet’s mind for harmonies as a skilled pianist, and certified sound designer Ralf’s feeling for propulsive grooves, Protonica will deliver their very own positive pulsing sound – a blend of psychedelic and progressive trance. The “Refresh / Northern Storm EP” from 2010 was an important milestone and marked the breakthrough for the duo. In 2012, Protonica released their second album “Form Follows Function”, another masterpiece after their debut album “Search” back in 2007.

With their energetic live sets, Protonica have already contributed to making events a success all over the world, having performed at the likes of Universo Paralello (Brazil), Rainbow Serpent (Australia), Ozora Festival (Hungary), Fusion Festival (Germany), Ilo Festival (Mexico), Groove Attack (Israel) and Boom Festival (Portugal).

Ralf and Piet share extensive experience in DJing for over a decade, too. Together they have also formed the progressive house/techno side project of KAEMPFER & DIETZE.

saradopstargreenAs for the supporting cast, we have an all-star line up. After smashing the dancefloor at so many of the Prog Monkey parties, we are happy to see the lovely Sara Dopstar on the line up! She will blast the dancefloor with her signature style of progressive psychedelic beats! Also on supporting duties are Mesopotamus aka DJ Munin, Lumen, and Animalium.

Supporting artist Lumen (Leo Freitas) was born in Brazil. By the time he was 22, he had already performed his first psy-trance independent live show called LUMEN LIVE. Looking for better chances, he moved to Toronto, Canada where he became even more inspired and dove into Progressive Trance.

Animalium used his authentic artistic name and created a daring sound strongly influenced by psychedelia. Born in Toronto and growing up in Portugal, Phillip fell in love with psychedelic music early on. Get ready for some amazing full on psy from this animal, and expect to find him on the dancefloor for all of the other sets.

Expect to find the venue (still TBA) decorated by Space Tribe, as they will be providing some colourful artwork and other decorations to bring the psychadelics to our eyes as well. Tickets are 30$ (online only) until February 1st, then become 35$ (online only) until February 20th! If they do not sell out, it will be slightly more at the door the night of the event. There will be a limited capacity, and (sorry kids) this is a 19+ event. Be sure to grab tickets now so you will get the lowest possible price.

Come and celebrate the approaching spring season with Team EDMTOR as Prog Monkey continues to bring you the best of Progressive Psychedelic artists from all around the world.
