ALBUM REVIEW: Andrea Fiorito – Voodoo Grooves

0

Andrea Fiorito’s upcoming LP ‘Voodoo Grooves’ is set to be due out early April. A very inspiring story behind the project – after the suffering the loss of his uncle, Andrea found himself seeking a new beginning which led to him traveling through South America, in turn this gave him the inspiration to break his year long studio silence & make ‘Voodoo Grooves’. This is his first release since 2013 on Dana Ruh’s Broque Music. He also has some very exciting projects happening this year including the launch of his own label Angels In The Shadow coming under the KOMPAKT umbrella later in the year.

‘Voodoo Grooves’ is an 8 track LP with each song falling just under 3 minutes, enough to get a taste of what’s to be released. Starting off with Give Yourself to Me, Andrea sets the mood for the LP. With a constant looping feel plus some added experimental sounds, it is sure to put you in a daze. Following up is the main track Voodoo Groove, the name describes the song perfectly. It is straight up groovy, the smooth melody is later combined with a bass and snare backbeat, making it irresistible to move too.

Rafael which is named after Andrea’s recently passed uncle whom he called his best friend and guru, is a tribute in his memory. You hear a steady beat, with a minimal piano sound and some dark bass all equaling to a hauntingly beautiful song. As you move through the album, you hear all of the tribal inspiration from Fiorito’s trip to South America. Over all, the LP is great from beginning to end. All of the tracks on this album are definitely dancefloor killers that’ll have you in a trance! Check out all the tracks above and make sure to get ‘Voodoo Grooves’ (Cynosure Recordings) digital LP when it comes out April 6, 2015.
