EVENT PREVIEW: Electric Island @ Hanlan’s Point 18-05-15

It’s back and it’s bigger and better than ever! I am, of course, referring to Toronto’s much-anticipated summer island party called, Electric Island. The first show in this series takes place on May 18th, 2015 at Hanlan’s Point in Toronto. This show has a star-studded lineup for its eagerly awaiting fans and island veterans.

The change in location from last year is a great play by the organizers at Electric Island T.O. because Hanlan’s Point is a bigger area which means there is room for even more island-goers, seating and food and drink vendors. This event starts at 1:00 pm and goes until 10:30pm when the last ferry boat will depart back to the city shores.

Starting the day off with some local talent are Simon Jain and Nature of Music with light and ethereal progressive and minimal house. As the day moves into mid and late afternoon, Tom Trago and Lee Burridge will hit the decks. These guys have played shows all over the world, most notably at DGTL Festival and Burning Man. Both of these producers are notorious for their well-constructed and catchy house and deep house music. One of my favourite sets is by Lee Burridge from when he played at Burning Man in 2013.

Moving in to the early evening, we will hear the sounds of Pan-Pot and Steve Lawler. Both of these highly credited producers have made a name for themselves internationally. Steve Lawler is known to pack a punch when it comes to his techno. As for Pan-Pot, this duo brings a heavy bass line to a somewhat minimal beat. These guys are the deep and dirty kind of music that brings the freaks out as the night takes over.

Headliners, Tuskegee’s Seth Troxler b2b The Martinez Brothers, will close the event out as the evening moves into the night. They will bring us a variety of deep, penetrating bass and sounds echoing all over the island. If anybody knows how to close a party, it is these guys. Expect to get pumped full of energy as soon as these they hit the decks.
