EVENT PREVIEW: NEST Grand Opening Weekend with Black Coffee, Fehrplay, and Danny Tenaglia

The Grand Opening of NEST – the old RYZE on College Street in Toronto – will host one major headliner on each night of the May Long Weekend, starting on Friday, May 15th, 2015, and there is most definitely a solid supporting lineup.

Black Coffee, the South African King of Soulful/Tribal House, will grace us with his bountiful beats on NEST Opening Night. Black Coffee says that his is a sound and vibe that is soulful, moving and rhythmic. It has presence, is uplifting and above all touches your soul in a profound way. I have to say that I wholeheartedly agree. IT’S MUSIC THAT MOVES YOU!!!! Throughout his career, Black Coffee has produced and been recognized for his grassroots tribal sound, however, the word on the street is that at this event he will be sharing with us a different style, Techno House. Black Coffee has reached a stage in his career where he truly wants to showcase who he is as an artist, and the best way for him to do that is to be in an intimate environment, playing a set where he can convey what Black Coffee is really about. NEST is already expected to be a great space with an even greater sound system; this venue boasts a true beast in their Dynacord sound system with a main room capacity of 560 and secondary room capacity of 300. The adjoining restaurant will be serving a menu of tapas and small plates, and will be open late on weekends.The masterminds behind NEST are BPM director Vito Tomasicchio (Digital Dreams Festival, Maison Mercer, Century Room, Li’ly Lounge), BPM co-founder, director and Blue Parrot Beach Club (Playa Del Carmen) co-owner Phillip Anthony Pulitano, RYZE owner Rob Oliverio, along with No.19 Music label co-owner Nitin Kalyan, who will be managing bookings and marketing. RYZE’s previous promotion teams, White Label Promo and Balance Inc., are still on board.

On Saturday night, NEST will switch gears and host headliner Fehrplay, a name Toronto knows well. He has played here before at another popular venue, Uniun Nightclub, and has built a great fan base in our scene.

Danny Tenaglia will be the main event at NEST on Sunday night, the final night of Opening Weekend. You will find him upstairs, on the CLUB FLOOR , with support from Daniel Dubb, while downstairs, in the BAR LEVEL, Ricky Syfer, Nicholas Nice, Paul Quzz, Steve Marto, Brent Hayward, and Jonathan Coe will be on deck. It’s going to be ridiculous, actually, and it’s a good thing that Monday is Victoria Day. Holidays make the best recovery days. The countdown has been on for weeks, as everyone has been waiting to see what has become of their beloved RYZE. The crowd that frequented RYZE was always a little more mature and also extremely discerning. But, until those doors open, the DJ hits the decks, and the club fills with fans, nobody knows what it will be like.
