EVENT PREVIEW: Reflections w/ Paul Oakenfold @ Maison Mercer 22-05-15

Tonight, Maison Mercer welcomes Paul Oakenfold for a night of entrancing music with support from local favourites Saad Ayub, Andy Ares and Baranov. When it comes to a career the magnitude of Paul Oakenfold it’s hard to encompass one of the true legends of electronic music into just words. For over three decades he has elevated and shaped an entire genre and remains one of the leading forces in the global music scene today. His most recent works have taken him from the DJ booth of the worlds hottest nightspots and festivals to the studio producing soundtracks for Hollywood blockbuster movies. His diversity in artistry and ability has earned him accolades from critics and fans alike.

Within the last few years, Saad Ayub has stepped onto Toronto’s electronic music scene as an influential trance DJ. Born and raised in Bangladesh, Saad began to spin at the age of 18, quickly creating his own brand of music and a strong group following. At a young age, he began to land headlining gigs and opened as the resident DJ for Ministry of Sound UK’s World Tours in Bangladesh. It was in 2011, that Saad moved to Canada and discovered his talents could impact an entirely new audience.

Andy Ares, regarded as one of the champions of legendary Toronto dance haven CiRCA, as well as Footwork Afterhours, Mod Club, and more, is a talented maestro who has been plying his trade on the circuit since well before our city’s explosive EDM boom. Andy has spent nearly a decade carving his reputation as an artist with his finger on the pulse of dance music’s ever evolving sounds.

Originally from Ukraine and now living in Toronto, Canada, Baranov is a one of a kind trance producer that’s known for his aggressive basslines and beautiful melodic breakdowns. He discovered his passion in his teenage years and since then he has already shared stages with the same artists that once inspired him like Myon and Shane 54, Ummet Ozcan, Orjan Nilsen, and Jerome Isma-Ae, to name a few. Baranov is driven by the notion that there is no shortcut to success and only hard work will get you to where you want to be. With that said, he is determined to take on the world and overcome any obstacles in order to share his passion for music.
