Saturday July 4th, Apollo, TeK and Basscrimes present the D.M.T Label Night hosted at Toika Nightclub. D.M.T. Records “aims to express what occurs in the absence of light, the depths of the inner self through introspection, the projection of interior realities.” At 10:00pm, shortly after the sun sets on the city of Toronto, techno fans will line up outside of 471 Richmond Street West for an ethereal experience courtesy of Montreal’s Florian MSK, Der Denker and Pulses. This event is free before midnight and $20.00 for the late crowd, promising a night of music that expresses what words cannot.
Florian MSK’s sound is best described as being dark and deep psychedelic minimal and techno. Owner of D.M.T. Records and holding spots on Crepsuscular Perception, Frakture Audio, Zenon, Concepto Hipnotico, Banm and Occulta Records, he is sure to deliver a set that aggressively pounds the dancefloor without shame. He promises frenzy rythmics, a mental blitz-krieg and stuff that grabs you from the guts without noise or sanguine saturation. He is a DJ without boundaries and has an intense passion for his craft – we are in for a treat. Check out the track below to get a feel for his vibe.
Der Denker started his career as a DJ and Producer back in 2007. In 2011, he was invited to become a part of Logic Vision Records and now a part of Concepto Hipnotico and Dark and Sonorous Recordings, he teamed up with his partner in crime Florian MSK to create the D.M.T. label in 2012. Der Denker brings a new energy to the scene, emanating deep, dark, “swampish,” minimal and techno sounds from a universe that join a futuristic projection into a pre-historical, abyss-like world. He also holds spots on Crepuscular Perception, Logic Vision Collective and Plaz Ma Records. His unique taste and style are sure to add a kick to the night and bring us down low with his sound. The duo known as Pulses and its enigmatic techno experience is a collaboration of the talents and visions of Dom Dumoulin (formerly known as Snork) and Patrice Tremblay (64hz Collective’s DJ Bushido), who allied themselves to prolific visual artist TiND in order to create an immersive audio-visual experience where perception gives room to a harmonized environment of sounds and images designed to stimulate a collective introspection. They claim their goal to be “creating an experience which, while overwhelming the senses, brings the participants back to the essential themes of genesis and the origins of time and space and, through its aesthetics, expresses the enigmatic phenomenon of the human being and its strange existence.” Check out their track, Wires and Chips, for a taste of what these guys can do.
Once again, this event is FREE before midnight but jumps up to $20.00 after; get there early to avoid disappointment! Toika’s walls are sure to bounce back and forth with this one, and it’s a taste of Montreal’s sound encased within the city walls – you do not want to miss this!
