EVENT PREVIEW: Destiny’s 22nd Anniversary Bash w/ Andy C x MC GQ, Brillz, Pusher & more @ Sound Academy 14-08-15

Usually when someone turns 22, chances are that they can’t really top the party they had the year before, but in this case you’d be fantastically wrong!

The entity know as Destiny Events celebrates its 22nd year of bringing the best parties to Toronto and the GTA by having the icon of an era – Andy C – spinning an extended set at Sound Academy on August 14th, 2015 alongside much talent like one of the most sought after talents today, Brillz.

Andy C’s last appearance here was at the legendary Guvernment Complex in November for projek: Andy Cand Brillz’ last appearance in our area was when he stormed The Hoxton with Kill the Noise back in 2013.

Sounds like enough of a reason to pony up right? But wait, there’s more.

One of the best aspects of this event is the supporting roster of talent. We have Pusher playing alongside Damn Kids, Thrizzo, Lukav and  DJ Bassik on the outside stage. Lush & Bensley will be supporting Andy C on the inside stage.

Pusher has been absolutely killing it this year with a slew of releases as well as shows; the last time I saw him was for Alison Wonderland back in May. I have nothing but high hopes for Bensley’s performance since hearing him play at Bassweek this year.

Destiny Events have been around for almost a quarter of a century now, and has always been loved for their stellar events. Andy C started his residency with Destiny in ’06 and has been involved with of many of those events.

Destiny showed their strength in 2002 when they threw the only rave to ever touch Roy Thompson Hall, and since then they have collaborated to bring us popular events like Cutting Edge Music Festival, Digital Dreams & WEMF. Now that times are changing it is good to see a such a broad slice of the “bass spectrum”  being represented. Drum and bass on one end, with the emerging future vibe in between, then blending with trap to top off this genre sandwich. Every other artist on the bill serves to fill in all the gaps of the evolving sounds of yesterday, as well as the present and tomorrow.

They started back in 1993 and have brought the city endless smiles and many premiere events like World Electronic Music Festival aka WEMF as well as other amazing shows like Bassweek, Brrrrr! Winter Music Festival and the Projek Series events. The list is unbelievably long and I can’t wait for a new party to be added. All you bassheads better come out to this one, celebrate something special, and rinse with us!!

Advance tickets are available online here for $30 (prices may go up as it becomes close to the date of the event).
