EVENT REVIEW: Gaga w/ Earvin Julius & Jeremy Stott @ Toika 24-07-15 • TRANCEPORTED

Apollo Inc. and the members over at TEK•PROMO did it, yet again! Toika Lounge was nothing less than extraordinary on the 24th of July. It was another huge night for Toronto and the Toronto techno community. On the bill was music enthusiast, local DJ, and close friend of mine, Earvin Julius. Another infamous Toronto DJ and one whom I had seen only twice before that night played also, Jeremy Stott. To cap off the night into the AM, the man everyone came to see: Gaga.

Upon entering the club, I saw that the crowd was already digging the music. Both artists before Gaga played an hour set that consisted of techno, tech-house and some minimal dark. Bass pounding, crowd-leasing tracks were non-stop. Some of these included tracks by Stefano Noferini and Matt Sassari.

Gaga was on and started playing at around 1:00AM. He immediately came in with a thunderous bang as he dropped some of the dirtiest and the most electrifying techno that I have heard in a long time. Indeed, sitting down was not an option. Track after track of funk and bass filled up the club. Track after track, it also seemed as though the bass was getting louder after each drop of the bass. Boots and cats have never sounded so pulsating.

About an hour later, Toika was filling up even more. Sure enough, folks from all over the city came out to Toika that night to see Gaga. Also, this was my first time seeing Gaga and I was floored. This man put on a set of a lifetime! Everything seemed so perfect while he was playing. After that night, I turned into such a fan of Gaga. Anyone who was apprehensive about attending on Friday should definitely make it a point to see him when he returns to Toronto.
