TRACK REVIEW: Fetty Wap – Trap Queen (Robokid x Ba-kuura Edit)

0

This remix of Fetty Wap’s Trap Queen comes courtesy of the Moving Castle collective via co-founder Robokid & the duo known as Ba-kuura. It’s got a different type of vibe than most of the remixes out there and definitely competes with Jesse Slayter’s edit for “Best Remix” of this song in my opinion.

A really subtle moombahton edit that keeps a light and kawaii edge that makes for a nice twist on this tune. It clocks in at 4 and a half minutes and crawls through your eardrums with the opening melody and proceeds to stay there with the help of the drums. It’s a perfect summertime earwig; the beat is intoxicating and the best part of the vocals are front and center and clear as can be.

For those who are looking forward to hearing more songs like this you can check out the Counterpoint Music Festival or the Virtual Summer event going on at Studio Bar this August. This kind of song is a heads up for those that argue that certain genres are “dead” but really its staying alive through the different viewpoints of artists worldwide just like these guys.
