EDITORIAL: End of Summer Must Attend Events 2015

I would like to remind you summer does not officially end until Wednesday, September 23rd, 2015 at 4:21am EDT. This means you have plenty of time to catch the many music events happening before we call it quits to shorts, skirts and tanks.

I have compiled events which are taking place around the world just in case you should find yourself there, because after-all a good party is hard to miss!

Promise Cherry Beach Sundays – Toronto, ON, CDA
Every Sunday until approximately Sunday, August 30th, 2015

If you have not experienced this laid back Sunday gathering I suggest you do. It will unwind you, ease you and make you feel awesome with its earthy, holistic vibe.

Grab a homemade smoothie from one of the vendors, dance to Toronto’s local talent (who are placed on a waiting list to play, so I am told, after trying to book many a great Toronto talent on the Promise Beach.)

Electric Island Part 4 – Toronto, ON, CDA
Monday September 7th (Labour Day)

Who has not heard this question, “Who’s going to Electric Island?” You can and you should. You only have one more date to do this, Monday, September 7th.

Electric Island concert + picnic series features international and local Toronto talent in an outdoor park-side setting overlooking Toronto’s waterfront and skyline. Officially closing each of Toronto’s four summer long weekends, this open air showcase is accessible via the Toronto Island Ferry.

The island event was established by three organizers – Platform, which has established itself as the leading producer of techno and house music events in the Toronto area for the past six years, Embrace, which produces hundreds of concerts, tours and festivals across North America each year, and Footwork, Toronto’s electronic music haven that was recently rated the #36 Nightclub in the world by DJ Magazine – A venue I am happy to say hosted for five of its eight years of operation.

August 3rd’s Electric Island featured Art Department who recently split. Composer of both music and lyrics, and vocalist Kenny Glasgow graced the decks as well as: Robert Babicz, Shiba San, DJ Three, The Junkies with Mike Gibbs and Koki.

Ozora Festival – Tolna County, Hungary
Monday, August 3rd – Sunday, August 9th, 2015

Legend has it that Ozora Festival originated during the Solar eclipse of August 11th, 1999 when the festival called Solipse was held. It is during that time when the moon blocked the sun for a few minutes. An estimated crowd of 20,000 converged to celebrate the said eclipse with good music and good crowd. This is the reason why the festival is held early August.

This year’s DJs include: Ajja (CH), Aphid Moon (UK), Ajja Vs Tanina (CH), Antonio, Ruscito (IT), Anna RF (IL), Bodoo (HU), Adam & Yury (HU), Almond Lama (HU) and so many more. Visit the official site here for the full list of DJs.

VuuV Festival – Putlitz, Germany
Friday, August 14th – Monday, August 17th, 2015

Should you be in Germany between August 14th and 17th then you should hit VuuV. For those who know, it’s the pioneer of psy-trance. At the time of this upload, the VuuV Festival 2015 lineup is yet TBA. You can keep track of it by visiting the portal here.

Time Festival – Toronto, ON, CDA
Saturday August 15th

Time is one of Toronto’s most promising festivals. This year Time Festival will feature artists Die Antwoord, Mac Demarco, Badbadnotgood, Ariel Pink, Freddie Gibbs, Ryan Hemsworth, Diiv, Alison Wonderland, Tory Lanez, Tommy Kruise, Lobby and Elliott Vincent Jones.

Sean Tyas – Toronto, ON, CDA
Friday August 21st – RED Nightclub

Tyas is a proud New Yorker but will visit Toronto in August at RED. Even though his website is one page, I find it alluring, just as I find Tyas’ sound to be alluring. This is one trance event you need to hit before the sun sets on summer.

Also on the bill is: Baranov, Saad Ayub and Shane Halcon.

Sunnyside in Session – Toronto, ON
Saturday August 22nd

If you’re into the more downtempo vibe of the summer or want a cool, chilled experience then hit Sunnyside in Session; a collaboration between some of Toronto’s top promotional teams to present a two stage outdoor event at the legendary Sunnyside Pavilion.

Saturday, August 22nd will feature Richy Ahmed, Audiofly and Sean Miller along with Richard Brooks, Chris Larsen, Cosella, Jamie Kidd, Jonathan Rosa, Mike Gibbs, Sam Haze, and Sean Roman.

Nicole Moudaber – Toronto, ON
Friday, September 4th, 2015 – CODA

If you know me, then you know I am a huge Nicole Moudaber fan. You can bet I won’t be missing this party. I was honoured to have interviewed her for Scenester Magazine back in April 2013. I asked her, “What is your strongest musical belief you care to share?” She replied, “Never compromise!”

I think this is something we can all relate to in our lives.

Of all events this summer, including Digital Dreams and VELD, I am strongly urging you to hit this event because you will be musically educated. Warning! You will be surrounded by a musical darkness that will ignite your inner core to burn bright.

Foam & Diamonds – Ibiza
Now until Saturday September 12th

You are either a Paris Hilton fan or not. Her gig here in Toronto at Cabana got cancelled due to the torrential rains we had that weekend in June. Nonetheless the Hilton train kept on moving. This year will make it her third year playing Amnesia in Ibiza for her Foam & Diamonds party.

Paris is hosting the main room at Amnesia on Saturday nights until September 12th, making this easily her longest club residency to date, so clearly the demand is there.

If I was in Ibiza I know I would check this out, and don’t say you wouldn’t either.

According to TMZ she’s getting $300k per gig!
