EVENT PREVIEW: WILD Festival @ Palmer Rapids 21 to 23-08-15 • TRANCEPORTED

Come August, as the summer gets off its peak it’s time to head in to the womb of mother nature for the inaugural WILD Festival starting from 21st August 2015 and running until the 23rd of August. This gathering organized by Labyrinth Productions and boasting two stages of foot tapping and brain melting electronic music will take place in Palmer Rapids in the southern region of Ontario, approx 300kms north-east of Toronto.

As many new electronic festivals are cropping up all over Ontario, here comes a very unique one amongst them which intends to bring the two unique music communities of psy-trance and techno together under the umbrella of electronic music lovers in the WILD. Along with the music and dancing to liberate oneself there will also be many other activities ranging from Yoga Sessions, Meditation and Thai Massage and more which will refresh and awaken one’s soul over this magical weekend. As the festival progresses there will be art students that will help to add to the beauty of the WILD by creating art installations and paintings for the course of the weekend; attendees are encouraged to participate in art creation to express themselves without any inhibitions during their stay in the WILD.

The two stages will be spread over a 240-acre picturesque land with one stage each dedicated to psy-trance (Savannah Stage) and techno (Bouncy Forest) as 40 Producers and DJs, international and local set the forest on fire with foot stomping beats. The festival will feature an extensive line-up of talented, new and experienced DJs from Toronto as Menezes adds, “We want to give Toronto local DJs the opportunity to expose their talents to a large crowd, and at the same time we want to showcase great international talent. Our aim is for oneness.”

Headlining the Savannah Stage will be none other than the king of dark-psy himself, Psykovsky, coming all the way from Russia, geared up to play a 5 hour long set, enriched in haunting soundscapes all through the night.

The Bouncy Forest stage will be headlined by the Belgian techno legend Tom Hades who is scheduled to play a 4-hour long techno set which alone makes the weekend’s ticket worth it all.

Flying in from Italy will be another techno shining star Stefano Kosa who’s been rising since 2011 when he first signed his first release.

Other international producers headlining at the event will be John Drummer (Hungary), Broken Box (Brazil), Black Mamba (Brazil), Airi (Switzerland), Priapizzm (Japan), Creative Mind (Mexico), ACRM (Japan), and The Hippie Disco Project (USA) who are all scheduled to play live sets.

International DJs showcasing their live set skills in the WILD will be Moondoggy (USA) and Omnipresent Miscreants (USA)

Along with all the electronic music, attendees will be treated to live music performances by the eclectic trip-hop group The Wednesday Experiment from Melbourne, (Australia) while Canadian singer and performer Laylalu Celis will bring sunshine into the WILD with her soulful covers and melodic originals for some acoustic laid back pleasures. There will also be a chillout/lounge corner playing down-tempo tunes for pilgrims to relax the dancing feet and racing minds.

The organizers are also making arrangements for organic food vendors to serve delicious recipes providing nutrition to the dancing campers to keep their energy levels at optimum. Things are surely looking up for the organizers as they have unanimous support and cooperation of the local people and the city of Palmer Rapid,s which definitely helps in creating and maintaining a serene and calm vibe throughout the weekend in the midst of all the rhythmically layered sounds ranging from 80 to 180 BPM. Promoters are requesting attendees to bring a donation of non-perishable food that will go to the local food bank helping score some good karma as one begins their auspicious journey into the WILD.

The driving forces behind this inaugural WILD Festival are Patricia Lima, Florenca Bortolacci, progressive trance Producer Leonardo Freitas (Lumen), Napoleon Menezes, and Antonina Mikhaleva who have worked really hard over the past many months to get this ball rolling. Antonina Mikhaleva states, “We don’t have sponsors. We are a group of five people generating our own money to bring something unique. Our intentions come straight from the heart.”

This is one season closing festival you wouldn’t want to miss as a festival like this in its nascent stage provides the raw and unadulterated experience to the attendees that sometimes seems to be lacking in many a commercialized music festivals.
