Buraka Som Sistema are preparing to celebrate their 10th anniversary with a final tour in early 2016, after which the band will go on hiatus for an undetermined period of time. On August 16th, 2015, the band gave its last concert of 2015 at Lisbon’s edition of Piknic Électronik festival, closing a year of memorable performances that took Buraka to International stages such as SXSW, Montreux Jazz Festival or Garorock, among many others.

Over these last few years, the group was responsible for more than 800 shows, 3 albums and 1 EP, that introduced the band to the entire world. Throughout this journey, Buraka has built on their success with tours that took them across all continents and won the band countless impassioned reviews. Their songs were played by some of the most respected DJs in the world, and they embarked on an endless string of conquests and historical moments that turned the band into a household name in Portugal. The 2013 documentary “Off The Beaten Track” provided additional insight into the band’s career, which has “an exclusive goal of taking our way of living and experiencing music to the largest number of people possible.”

ABOUT BURAKA SOM SISTEMA

The wild Angolan Kuduro beat started to burst in the Lisbon clubs in the last years and Buraka Som Sistema – AKA Branko, Riot, Conductor, Kalafand Blaya – merged it with the electronic music from the 21st century, giving birth to a completely new sound. “From Buraka to the World” (2006), “Black Diamond” (2009) and “Komba” (2011), defined the bands’ path. In 2014 “Buraka” is released. The single Stoopid, directed by Vhils, has more than one million views and the journey by the Global Club Music is also done with themes like Vuvuzela, Parede and Do Me Now, amongst others.
