EVENT PREVIEW: Prog. Monkey presents G.M.S. (Growling Mad Scientists) @ Club 120 26-09-15

Mark your calendars for the 26th of September, 2015 as Progressive Monkey keeps making the year 2015 more memorable, this time hosting the legendary Dutch Producers, G.M.S. (also known as the Growling Mad Scientists) at their new and swanky den, Club 120 on Church Street.

G.M.S is dynamic duo of Shajahan Matkin (a.k.a. Riktam) and Joseph Quinteros (a.k.a. Bansi) forged in the year 1997 when they debuted the psy-trance world with the release of “Chaos Laboratory”. Together they founded the legendary Spun Records in 1999, the first psychedelic trance label in the United States and Ibiza, Spain. In 2009, they formed a new label called Starbox Music.

Even though as independent producers Riktam and Bansi have been a part of quite a variety of music projects, their biggest success yet has been the Growling Mad Scientists project. With a total of eight artist albums to their credit, they have different tracks appearing on over 150 releases and hold under their belt a grand sales total of more than $200,000. While they are usually known to produce a more driving sound, the Riktam & Bansi Project sees them embark in a different direction, towards a style which encompasses a slower, groove-oriented techno orientation.

While retaining all of their flavour for the dancefloor, their productions as Riktam & Bansi show the breadth and diversity of their studio skills, without losing any of their unique take on melody or sound construction. Their debut release “Green Space” reached number 2 in the charts on Beatport while simultaneously dominating the Beatport prog-house charts with 4 tracks in the top ten. This also includes a number 1 placement held over a month, and their releases are already receiving huge support from respected artists like Moguai, Nick Warren, Groove Armada, Eric Prydz, Amo & Navas and D-Nox, to name only a few.

The Dutch headliner Riktam will be performing live sets as GMS and Riktam & Bansi, while he brings down all the floors of the double level and spacious Club 120. There are also some prolific DJs from Canada that will keep the night pumping. Fresh back from his magical performance at the Wild Summer Festival will be Magic Mushroom who has been getting better and better at bringing the energy out on the dance floor with every performance of his.

Another massive addition to the lineup is Lumen, a progressive trance Producer who was born in Brazil and currently lives in Toronto. He has been blowing away the minds of psytrance lovers all over Canada from nightclubs to festivals. His live performances are known to be very powerful and groovy, yet melodic at the same time.

Debuting with Progressive Monkey in Toronto that night will be Protocell which is the new progressive psy-trance (psygressive) project of Bader Decipher and Neil Synthetik (Decipher and Synthetik). After many years of mind melting energetic gigs playing tag sets as DJs they have decided to combine their talents and experience. The duo is currently based out of Montreal, Canada but each come from different Canadian cities. They are known to play sets full of complex mind bending psychedelic sounds to create environments for a journey into new dimensions. The decor at the event will be courtesy of Space Tribe.

This is one night you do not want to miss as the multiple dance floors at Club 120 will guarantee that everyone gets to dance their hearts out in ample space. Come join us in the fun that is set to go until 5AM.
