EVENT REVIEW: Zedd’s True Colors Tour with Dillon Francis & Alex Metric @ Ricoh Coliseum 24-10-15

I arrived at Ricoh Coliseum around 7:30PM. The cab dropped us off to a chilly night lit warmly by the Coliseum’s broad entrance. I’ve never been to an event at Ricoh, and when our team was invited to join MLSE in a box seat, I was excited to see and hear what this venue could do with our treasured genres.

There was a decent amount of floor space surrounded by rows of stadium-style seating. The sound was well-balanced and the lighting and visuals were incredible. It’s been a while since I’ve really gotten to experience theatrics in equivalence with the music, it’s easy to say I was mesmerized.

Alex Metric was playing, heavy kicks and deep bass were filling the room alongside the crowd. People were beginning to break out their shuffles and steps, excited for the night ahead. This was my first time seeing Alex live, and I was definitely impressed. For those of you who missed out, it went a little like this:

Dillon Francis was next to the stage. Dillon is someone I’ve been wanting to see since my early days in EDM exploration, though, I’ve never had the opportunity. True to his playful and off-beat nature, he delivered a show that exuded performance quality. He paired high-energy music with engaging visuals and plenty of moving along with us. I finally got to hear this track live:

Dillon also spun us deeper with sound from his alter-alias, DJ Hanzel. Here, he hit us with insane groove and heavier styles. For me, it was an excellent treat. Seriously, just listen to this mix:

Zedd paved his way in a flash of colour and with his signature tracks. The stage was decorated to include him as the centered silhouette surrounded by a sea of visual stimuli. His energy and excitement were apparent and the crowd was breathing it in, singing the words with him. This is another track I’m glad I got to enjoy live:

All in all, I would call the show well-orchestrated and Ricoh Coliseum a potential venue for me again in the future. EDM TOR thanks MLSE Live for letting us experience this night with their lovely team.
