Still riding high with their Calvin Harris collaboration How Deep Is Your Love amassing over 145 million streams on Soundcloud, 120 million plays on YouTube, and breaking into the top-ten in over 74 countries with over 2 million copies sold, South London DJ/production trio Disciples delve back deeper into the club scene with “The Following” EP, out now on FFRR.
“The Following” is a collection of tracks that the group have been have been experimenting with during their DJ sets over the last few months, most notably on their recent debut North American tour where they performed at landmark locations such as Omnia in Las Vegas and Output in New York. Of the three new tracks, the energy of Mastermind most openly wears its influences on its sleeve with a rolling, hypnotic bass. The second track APE is a darker house cut with an infectious hook driving it forward, while Flawless rounds things off with their trademark bouncing bassline, flashes of Luke’s spoken words and an eerie detuned melody.
Disciples are Duvall, Luke and Gavin. This exciting trio has been bubbling under the radar for over a year, but broke through when their deep groove-led production They Don’t Know became an underground anthem, declared as Pete Tong’s “Essential New Tune” and subsequently entered the UK Singles Chart. The band shuns the usual route of producer and guest vocalist to strike out on their own, with every element of their tracks written, produced and sung by the band. Flirting across genres, their individual strengths collide to make something bigger than the sum of its parts.
