Who says festival season is over? The cold weather hardly seems to affect music lovers in and around the GTA. INK Entertainment and Live Nation present the third annual Solaris Festival.
The winter music festival launched in 2013 as a single day event with headliners Tiesto, Steve Angello, Laidback Luke, Max Vangeli, Moti, and Mark Oliver. Despite the huge ice storm that froze the entire city just a few days prior to the show, Solaris had an incredible turn out and was a huge success, proving that nothing will prevent the fans from seeing the DJs that they love. In 2014, the festival expanded to a two-day event, with Kaskade, Adventure Club, 3Lau, Morgan Page, and Mark Oliver performing on the first day, and Skrillex, Steve Aoki, Boys Noize, Tchami, and Melvin & Klein performing on the second.
Solaris @ Direct Energy Centre – December 26th 2014
Solaris returns to the Enercare Centre (formerly known as the Direct Energy Centre) on December 26th and 27th. Many of the artists in this year’s line up were scheduled to preform in Toronto’s 2015 summer festivals, Digital Dreams and Veld. Alas, the city’s curse of poor weather resulted in miserably wet crowds and unfortunate cancellations. Hardwell, Oliver Heldens, Borgeous, Kill The Buzz, and Manzone & Strong are to headline the first day. As sampled in the promotional videos across the social media platforms, Hardwell’s Eclipse seems to be the anthem of the festival, fitting with the logo and outer space theme of the event.
The next day offers some familiar faces – Steve Angello and Mark Oliver return to Solaris for a second and third time, respectively. Carnage, Fedde LeGrand, and Wiwek are newcomers to the festival and will be joining them on day two. After-party announcements for both days will be released closer to the event; keep an eye on the various clubs and venues around Toronto, especially The Sound Academy.
