Vibrasphere is a legendary act that has been retired for the past 5 years… but occasionally, one half of the duo, Rickard Berglof, will perform various shows around the world. It’s a difficult booking, but fortunately for Toronto psy fans, Prog. Monkey is bringing Vibrasphere back to Toronto! Vibrasphere will bless us with a special one hour downtempo set and an hour of progressive masterpieces. In addition to the headliner will be Planet B, who will perform his live downtempo set that he has been working on for quite a while. Alongside those two main attractions will be our very own Toronto talent, Ina Matrex and Ron Elf. The decor for the night will be provided by none other than Space Tribe.

Vibrasphere was a progressive psytrance music duo from Uppsala, Sweden. Its founding members were Rickard Berglöf and Robert Elster. Rickard was previously a member of the early Goa group Subcouds around the time Robert had started his first musical productions. After meeting through Rickard’s younger cousin, the pair decided to start making studio recordings in June of 1998 with the creation of Vibrasphere . Half a year went by after the second release of Vibrasphere’s second album, “Lime Structure” and Robert decided to quit the group due to constant touring. Rickard continued both touring around the and recording in his studio until Robert decided to rejoin the group in 2005, leaving Rickard still in charge of touring duties. Their fourth album, “Exploring the Tributaries”, took a few more leaps towards progressive, fading the barriers between trance and house music while also featuring dub, downbeat and ambient tracks.

In November of 2010, Vibrasphere announced they were retiring. The group’s website announced, “We are very sorry to inform you that we have decided to close down the Vibrasphere project. This is due to several reasons, but mainly we feel it is time to move on to other projects within the music. After all, 12 years is a very long time for any music project. We are very grateful to all the fans, promoters, labels, DJs and other people that have supported us in the past 12 years.”

Planet B is the second project of Thomas Pospiech, a veteran in the Toronto psychedelic scene. You may know him by his most famous DJ project called Plan B which consists of a lot of fast paced and trippy psychedelic beats, ranging from progressive to full on psychedelic mysteries. This time, Thomas will be gracing us with the presentation of his new live project which completely revamps his old style into a new magical and trippy downtempo sound.

Ron Elf began his journey in our psychedelic culture in the late 90’s. In 2007 he learned to DJ in the heart of the psychedelic culture in India. His sound consist of outstanding melodic goa beats and psychedelic ambient sounds to entrance your mind. Get ready for a set of pure bliss and love for life that is super intricate.

Ina Matrex is a 28 year old veteran DJ from Fort Erie who has been stamping his name all over Toronto this past year with incredible performances. He has performed alongside Vini Vici, 1200 Micrograms, Mad Maxx, Digicult, Biogenesis, Logic Bomb, Perfect Stranger and Egorythmia to name a few. His mixing skills and knowledge of sound have grown to a point that Ina can manipulate any genre of his liking to fit into his mixes flawlessly. With original samples created by himself added in and various other techniques he has picked up over the years, Ina created a new genre he coins “future fusion” which consists of breaking down the barriers and labels between genres to accommodate to everyone’s tastes. Be sure not to miss this amazing act as you will be taken on a rollercoaster of emotions and end up saying to yourself “What a hell of a ride.”

This is the second time Prog. Monkey has presented Vibrasphere’s incredible act in Toronto – they are a rare booking and you shouldn’t miss it! It’s going to be an unforgettable night and with the turnouts that Prog. Monkey have been having lately, there’s no doubt in my mind this will be an insane night.
