Justin Jay releases his “Fantastic Voyage House Party Mix” for free download, just as he embarks on Holy Ship! to kick off his first run of tour dates this year. After docking back in Miami this weekend, the 22-year-old Dirtybird protégé will go on to showcase his new, house party-inspired Fantastic Voyage concept/brand throughout North America and Australia, stopping in major cities from Brooklyn to Sydney to Toronto. On select dates, Justin Jay will officially be joined by his Friends, vocalist Josh Taylor, and guitarist Benny Bridges, so fans can expect live experimentation, while also looking forward to all that they know and love from a Justin Jay set, plus more.
Throughout last year, Los Angeles’ Justin Jay furthered his humble, yet authoritative presence in the scene with an eclectic mix of releases, such as his “Mom, I Graduated!” EP, his first world tour, a new musical endeavor, and even his own house parties. Just before the transition into 2016, he debuted his Justin Jay & Friends project, featuring vocalist Josh Taylor and guitarist Benny Bridges, with Karma,” and now it’s officially making its way on stage this tour, after a handful of stand-out, surprise performances at Coachella, CRSSD Festival, and more.
In celebration of his Fantastic Voyage Tour launch, Justin Jay elaborated on the concept, “Over the past couple of months, I started throwing a bunch of house parties in LA. House parties are really special for DJ’s because we can play songs we normally never get to play: from the tracks that are too weird and quirky for the big clubs/festivals, to the songs that are too cheesy and feel good for the cool-kid warehouse shindigs. I like pushing myself to play crazy forward thinking music, but by the end of the night, I also want everyone (including myself) smiling, laughing and having a good time. Sometimes the songs that make me smile the biggest are also cool in their own cheesy way.
