It goes without saying that DJ Shadow has an ear for eclectic talent. Artists like G Jones, Ruckazoid, and Bleep Bloop have caught the attention of the Liquid Amber head honcho in the past but it’s Noer The Boy that is truly shining through his virtuosity. Described by Shadow as “creative, progressive, and with an eye for the future,” Noer the Boy is pushing the boundaries of the futuristic beat scene with his exploratory, spontaneous style. He aspires to always create an enjoyable experience for the listener and the single Slumpy succeeds in doing just that. Sticking true to his paradigm, Slumpy, features barely, if any, repetition and its impressive arrangement and array of homemade samples are a perfect example of how Noer is evolving as a true tastemaker of unconventional electronic music. Noer The Boy is part of a monthly event in Wisconsin’s burgeoning beat scene, and has performed with Liquid Amber mainstays G Jones and Bleep Bloop in his home state, as well as at California’s Emissions Festival. He strives to mix the sound and style of modern bass music with the unpredictable song forms of romantic era classical music.
