EVENT PREVIEW: Prog Monkey presents Spring Equinox with Mad Maxx at Club 120 19-03-16

Progressive Monkey once again brings another great international psychedelic artist to mix with local talent at Toronto’s own Club 120 on Saturday,March 19th, 2016, for a special Spring Equinox event! Get ready for a phenomenal night with a two-hour live set from Spanish Trance master Mad Maxx. Montreal-based Protocell will also be bringing their unique progressive psychedelic trance to this event, along with local Toronto talent Modula and MagicMushroom. Deco is being handled by the highly capable Space Tribe, so prepare to be sent on a UV- and fluorescent-driven journey as the stage is set for a fantastic mind-opening night, both musically and visually.

Headliner Mad Maxx’s Max Peterson was born in San Diego, California, although he spent most of his formative teenage years in France. Max dove into the world of trance music at age 19. Some of the many projects he has been involved with since include “Biodegradable” (with Samy Guediche and Nicolas Oesch), Sirius Isness (with Davina Elmosnino), and he released his first solo album “Afterworld” in May of 2008. He has released two albums since, and is currently in collaboration with Space Tribe on a new project – MAD TRIBE.

Modula consists of Humber College alumni and Toronto locals, Jason Gardiner and Scott Hunter. Originally jazz musicians, they share a love of EDM and worked independently on their own projects before finally collaborating on this joint project. Now, Jason and Scott make use of their jazz backgrounds and improvisational methods to create and bring their own unique blend of psychedelic techno to avid crowds all over the Toronto Psytrance scene, including the Wild Summer Festival 2015.

MagicMushroom is the performing name of Hugo Brito, native of Ponta Delgada, Azores, and now Toronto resident. Falling in love with electronic music at age 14, MagicMushroom began mixing and learning the decks only two years later. Since his club debut in 2006, he has become a musical force in the Psytrance scene, quickly gaining popularity in Toronto as he started to mix bigger events and festivals alongside both local and international artists.

The brainchild of DJs Decipher and Synthetik, Protocell is a new progressive Psy project, currently based out of Montreal. Before collaborating on Protocell, its powerhouse members accumulated a combined 25 years of experience playing psychedelic trance for events and festivals with big names like Avalon, Atmos, BioGenisis, Materia, and others, as well as putting in studio time with well-known Psytrance-focused Studio Sundari.

Tickets can be bought here, and are selling out quickly! The current block of tickets is available until March 18th at $35 each, and due to limited capacity, tickets may or may not be available at the doors. Gear up for a psychedelic Spring Equinox!

Happy Raving!
