Nick Rotteveel van Gotum, more commonly known by his stage name Nicky Romero, is an electro house producer and DJ hailing from the Netherlands. Romero is well known for his 2011 hit song Toulouse. The music video went viral when it was released the following spring and it is currently a few hundred thousand short of 300 million total views. The Guy Fawkes mask is used throughout the video and Romero has become associated with this image and has worn the mask while performing live in the past.

2012 was a big year for Nicky Romero. After the release and popularity of Toulouse, he became DJ Mag’s “Highest New Entry” on their Top 100 DJs list of 2012, landing a spot at number seventeen. That summer, he was offered a joint residency alongside David Guetta at Pacha and Ushuaia in Ibiza, and the two have been close friends ever since. Later that year, he collaborated with Avicii on I Could Be The One, a hugely successful song across the globe that has been sampled in many sets from many DJs since its release four years ago. Romero founded his own record label Protocol Recordings in 2012 as well, signing various electro, house, and big room artists, and he has hosted his own weekly radio show Protocol Radio since mid-August of that year. He was rumoured to be working on his debut studio album ever since, but sadly battled with some anxiety issues throughout 2015 which put his music production on hold. He is now “focusing on a lot of new music for 2016” and very recently announced his upcoming single, Novell, which debuted unidentified at Ultra Music Festival.

The Dutch DJ is returning to UNIUN Nightclub, having played there in late 2013 as part of his Nothing Toulouse Tour. Romero showed a lot of love for Canada that autumn, specifically Ontario. Of the twenty-one stops on the North American leg, eight of them took place in our province: Windsor, Waterloo, Ottawa, London, St. Catherines, Kingston, Guelph, and Toronto. Plus the additional show in Montreal, our corner of Canada was scheduled for nearly half of the entire tour!

Thanks to Ink Entertainment, Nicky Romero will be performing in Toronto next month on May 6th. Tickets went on sale April 13th and are currently available for $35 (+processing fees and taxes) each.

It was love at first bass drop. Ashlyn became intensely drawn to the scene after her first show, a passion which has continuously blossomed ever since. Attended Las Vegas’ Electric Daisy Carnival in 2015, an unbelievable magical experience she'll cherish forever. You’ll always find her dancing in the middle of the crowd, connecting with the music, the lights, and the atmosphere. Dream on little dreamers!
