The Toronto Trance Family has been very fortunate to have many fantastic trance artists headline events over the years. New and upcoming promoters Electric Escape are following suit, bringing some of the hottest names from around the world to our city for their debut event, Escape 138!
Escape 138 has recruited several Future Sound Of Egypt – signed producers to explore the melodies of 138 BPM. Beginning at 9PM on August 20th, 2016, inside the newly renovated Sound Academy, the following five artists will take us on A Journey Into Trance:
Hailing from Poland, Tomasz Popielarski created his electronic music project Arctic Moon back in 2007. Fascinated by the EDM genre from an early age, he took the time to teach himself how to produce music and experimented with different sounds until he found trance as his true calling. He has been a part of several Future Sound Of Egypt festival tours since signing to the record label in 2010. It’s been three years since Arctic Moon last made an appearance in Toronto and we are welcome to have him back!
Darren Porter is a self-taught musician who started out writing scores for film and television. He broke into the electronic music scene after winning the “Dave Pearce Bedroom Producer” competition with his first track Termination in 2009. The British DJ and producer steadily built a reputation for himself since, heavily catching the attention of and being supported by the big names in trance in 2012 after releasing a series of successful originals and remixes. Porter has became good friends with Sean Tyas and helps manage and produce music under Tyas’ label Tytanium Recordings. His success has landed him with label deals on Who’s Afraid of 138?! and most recently FSOE Recordings.
Ludovic Meyer, more commonly known by his stage name Ferry Tayle, is a newer addition to the FSOE family, only having signed to the label last year. The French producer spent his early years as a jazz musician before moving into the electronic scene in 1999. He has been involved in many different collaborative projects over the years and has performed in clubs and festivals across Europe, and most recently travelling as part of the FSOE400 World Tour. Ferry Tayle is known as “The Wizard” after embracing the nickname given at Trance Energy in 2010 by the promoters at ID&T; fans can expect to hear many tracks from his positively reviewed 2014 self-titled “The Wizard” album mixed into his set.
Mark Sherry is the only one on the Escape 138 roster not signed to the FSOE label (but he was a guest artist for FSOE350). The Scottish producer is known for his tech-trance style and has released many popular tracks across the other major labels, including Spinnin’, Armada, Anjuabeats, and more. He owns the underground record label Outburst Records and hosts The Outburst Radio Show, a weekly two-hour long podcast broadcasted worldwide featuring some of the biggest artists in the trance/tech-trance/techno genres as guest mixers. This event will mark Standerwick‘s third appearance in Toronto this year! EDM TOR caught the British DJ’s A State Of Trance 750 set back in January – check out the review of the night. Ian Standerwick returned to the trance scene in 2012 after taking an extended break from producing to focus on starting a family. Since his return he has had various releases on many labels, including signing to FSOE and Who’s Afraid Of 138?! in 2014. He’s participated in ASOT, FSOE, and WAO138?! festivals around the would and continues to rise up through the global trance DJ rankings.
The first ticket tier for Escape 138: A Journey Into Trance sold out within an hour of them being released, and tier two was snapped up the day of.
