Toronto and EDM TOR will be welcoming a new name to the trance and psytrance collective this spring: Ōlim Productions. Inspired by the Latin word, used to catch attention and set a storytelling mood – similar to phrases like “once upon a time” – Ōlim’s saga begins May 5th, 2017 at Nest. Featuring the first Toronto appearance of their debut event headliner, Ace Ventura, Ōlim Productions is excited to introduce Toronto to a new standard of Trance events!
May also marks EDM TOR’s 5 year anniversary covering the electronic music scene in the Toronto area and beyond, and we hope to have a large amount of the EDM TOR team present for this debut Olim Productions event. Our Manager Adele will be shooting photos, so come out and dance and smile with us!
A major Psytrance DJ at the top of his game, Ace Ventura has been spinning for decades, under one project or another. His initial venture, in collaboration with DJ Goblin (later PSYSEX), Children of the Doc, spawned three very well-received albums with HOMmega Productions that were instrumental in recognizing Israel as a primary source of some of the world’s best Trance. Integrating the intensity and energy of the dance-floor oriented style reminiscent of PSYSEX with his new fascination – progressive trance – Ace Ventura initiated his current endeavour in 2006. Launched into the big leagues almost immediately with the release of Cardiac Arrest, Ace Ventura has worked with labels like Flow, Echoes, Spintwist and Iboga Records, and toured for years, spinning festivals and events at home and abroad. Inside Us and Prescence won Beatport‘s Psytrance Category in 2008 and 2009, and marked Ace Ventura as a leading industry producer. I, for one, am eagerly anticipating his Toronto premier!
Sara Dopstar is well known for captivating the Toronto psytrance scene. Dedicated to reading the dance floor and delivering consistent crowd-pleasing performances, Sara’s unique style and flair are a credit to every event she spins. Active in both the Canadian and Columbian event and festival circuits, Sara has shared the stage with industry leaders like Perfect Stranger, Juno Reactor, 1200 Micrograms and Vini Vici. Through sharp track selection, Sara’s musical storytelling melds the best of melody, harmony, and rolling basslines.
A Toronto trance regular, DeeCee‘s recent co-founding of Electric Escape, and his work with the U4RIA series, has truly moved him into the spotlight. Defined in style by his versatility within the trance genre, and his house and techno influences, DeeCee works hard to make every set memorable and intense.
A relative newcomer on the Toronto trance scene, Brian Longmire‘s driving passion and innate talent has brought him plenty of opportunities to flex his skills behind the decks. Working with Trance Sessions Toronto out of Populus (formerly Toika), Brian has spun at their Oceanlab & Anjunabeats tribute night, their Future Sound of Egypt (FSOE) tribute night, and alongside . With his Keep It Pure podcast on its 37th episode, Brian Longmire is a name to watch for.
