After two successful editions, Electric Escape is proud to present the most recent installment of their U4RIA series. This time U4ria will play host to one of the celebratory shows for the 500th edition of Mark Sherry‘s Outburst Radio Program, which aired at the end of February 2017. The lineup for this event is a veritable who’s who of trance and tech trance artists, featuring the talents of Mark Sherry, Alex DiStefano, David Forbes, and more. Electric Escape seems to be making the rounds of Toronto’s electronic music venues, beginning at Rebel, then Maison Mercer, then Nest and now visiting Coda. To be honest, Coda initially seemed like an odd choice to me as a location for this show. Coda tends to favour the techno and house genres; only a select few trance acts have made their way to Bathurst and Bloor. With the “tech-ier” sounds of the artists at this Outburst show, perhaps it will be a good fit after all.
Mark Sherry has long been considered one of the masters of tech-trance. His discography boasts original productions and remixes on Spinnin’, Armada, Lange Recordings and Anjunabeats. He was recently responsible for the hit rework of the classic Follow Me. If you’ve been to a psytrance show in the past 6 months, then you probably know which track I’m talking about. For those of you who may be unaware, you can play it right here as you continue reading.
As a producer with over two decades of experience, Alex Di Stefano is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to dance music. Arriving on the scene in 1993 with live-act performances in numerous clubs in Italy, Alex quickly displayed his talent. He focused more on his solo career in 2007, releasing tracks which could be considered the precursor to his current tech-trance style. Alex Di Stefano has released tracks on labels such as Subculture, Outburst Records, JOOF Recordings, Kearnage Recording and Lange Recordings, just to name a few. Catch his monthly radio program Firecast radio which is coming up to 20 episodes in the near future. Listen to Alex DiStefano’s collab with Sherry on the Outburst Recordings 50th release, entitled Everyone is Looking For Us.
Lostly a.k.a. Andre Frauenstein is a Germany-based Producer/DJ has been practicing his craft since the very ripe age of 13. Lostly has already played at Love Parade and Luminosity Beach Festival, and his releases have come out on labels like Armada, Black Hole Recordings, Kearnage Records and, of course, Outburst Records. He seems to be quite at home at trance and tech-trance shows around the world, and we hope he feels right at home here in Toronto. Lostly also is known to draw influences from a wide variety of other genres, for example, the drum and bass inspired No Direction Home featuring Amber Traill. I can’t wait to see what sort of journey Lostly takes us on this Easter weekend.
Our very special guest for this event is none other than Richard Durand a.k.a. Richard van Schooneveld. Richard is a Dutch DJ and producer, and in 2009 he released his debut album Always The Sun” on Magik Muzik / Black Hole Recordings which spawned three singles: Into Something, Always The Sun and No Way Home. In 2010, Durand took over mixing duties for the In Search of Sunrise compilation albums and to date, he is the only DJ besides Tiesto, to have had that honour. He also has his own radio show, Reloaded Radio, and is releasing tracks under his own label of the same name.
