Electric Escape is the hottest name in the Toronto trance movement. They created buzz in 2016 with their debut A Journey Into Trance shows: Escape 138 and Escape Together. Taking that positive momentum into the new year, they created U4RIA: Trance Collective, a new series which “features top tier international acts from all sub genres within trance, all in a more intimate setting, with longer set times and no corners cut in regards to ‘the experience’”.
With six successful shows under their belt, Electric Escape is taking a shot at hosting a one-day blowout event – True North Music Festival. This collaborative project with the Vancouver-based promoters Solid Events will feature a total of seventeen local and international DJs covering several major EDM genres: bass, dubstep, hardstyle, house (big room, electro, future & progressive), trance (progressive, psy, tech & uplifting) and trap. There will be two stages for attendees to float between. The Main Stage welcomes: Dash Berlin, Datsik, Ummet Ozcan, Firebeatz, Moti, Daijo, DeeCee, and Tofu. The Fusion Stage welcomes: Ben Nicky, Code Black, Jimmy Chou, Jordan Suckley, Michele C, Krfw, Kutski, Somma, and Super8 & Tab.
Five more DJs have been added to the roster in addition to the big names above. A competition was run from April 27th to May 4th on the official Facebook Event page that allowed members of the community to vote for their favourite local artists for the opportunity to perform at the big event. Purely based on popular vote, the winners were: AlienEd, hnrSound, KWAky x ÖMÖ, MVRBLES, and TWINNS. Congratulations!
True North Music Festival takes place this upcoming Victoria Day Long Weekend on Sunday, May 21st from 5pm until 2am. It is hosted just west of our city at Arrow Hall inside The International Centre in Mississauga. There is free parking available for those arriving by car, otherwise the venue is easily accessible via GO Transit (more detailed directions and transit routes can be found here). It is an all-ages event with designated 19+ areas. General admission tickets are currently available at the final tier price of $89.99, and special VIP tickets, which include quick entry and a surprise gift, are available for $129.99.
