Electric Escape is no longer the new kid on the block; the Toronto trance promoters have been in the electronic dance music business for nearly fifteen months now, bringing some of the top names in the genre to our city and supporting our local trance DJs. Of course there are learning curves with every new venture, but Electric Escape has achieved a great deal of success through their U4RIA Trance Collective series. The company describes the collection of shows as featuring “acts from all sub genres within trance, all in a more intimate setting, with longer set times and no corners cut in regards to ‘the experience’”.
U4RIA returns this winter for its sixth instalment of the series. This headliner may be new to the series but he has already played two shows in Toronto within the past year: Escape Together and True North Music Festival (both of these events were also hosted by Electric Escape). We welcome back one of the hottest exports from the UK – Ben Nicky.
Ben Nicky has been described as “the badboy of dance”, a label the DJ / producer relishes in. Nicky is well known for his unique ‘Headf**k’ mashups of new and classic trance tunes. The recognizable Headf**k brand and his signature high-energy sets has fueled his popularity and lead to sold out solo shows and major festival bookings around the globe, making 2017 the busiest year for him yet! There are several new releases with Nicky’s name attached, including Pirates (with Will Sparks) and a remix of Sun Is Rising (by Darren Styles ft. Christina Novelli). Cobra, which is his most recent release as a solo artist through Who’s Afraid Of 138?!, and is a good sample of what you’ll expect to hear at this upcoming show:
